Level 3 Principles of Management and Leadership


The Level 3 Principles of Management and Leadership qualification is awarded to outstanding individuals. Awarded by the Chartered Management Institute, it is recognised throughout the public and private sectors and across all management disciplines.

The aim of the qualification is to support the development of your management and leadership skills in the workplace. This qualification helps you develop your communication and motivational skills in order to impact operational efficiency.

The first stage of the qualification process requires you to reflect on your organisation’s vision, strategic goals and objectives.

The second stage of the qualification process requires you to focus on your personal leadership development and evaluate its effectiveness in delivering day to day results and driving best practice to support your organisation’s vision and values.

The third stage of the qualification process requires you to focus on improving practice by developing, implementing, and evaluating research-focused projects that support your organisation’s vision and values.

Level 3 Award in Principles of Management and Leadership

Learners need to complete unit CMI 301 to achieve this qualification. The minimum Total Qualification Time is 40 hours.

Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership

Learners need to complete unit CMI 301, 321 and 303 to achieve this qualification. The minimum Total Qualification Time is 130 hours.

Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership

Learners need to complete unit CMI 301, 321, 303, 302, 310, 320, 311 and 313 to achieve this qualification. The minimum Total Qualification Time is 370 hours.

Developing and sharing good practice enables individuals and organisations to increase their potential to succeed personal and organisational expectations. This unit explores how good practice can be developed, maintained, adopted and shared with stakeholders.

Design, Delivery, Duration and Assessment…

Programme design
We work with you to design your management and leadership development programme so that it is bespoke to your context, ensuring the mode of delivery meets your needs.

Programme delivery
We provide an online learning/coaching delivery method for this qualification and work with you to support your self-directed study journey.

Programme duration
The length of study time will depend on the units chosen. As a rough guide:

Award: 1-3 months
Certificate: 3-6 months
Diploma: 6-12 months

Programme assessment
We have developed approved assignment briefs for each of the units, ensuring that you can meet the respective assessment criteria for this qualification.

The assignment briefs provide best practice guidelines, examine work-based scenarios, and encourage you to apply management and leadership tools, models and theories, to real life workplace situations.

Once you complete and submit your assignment briefs we then provide a direct route to accreditation.
