Teaching Character in the Curriculum


The aim of this workshop is to provide teachers with an opportunity to develop an understanding of character and leadership education, and to discuss its importance in raising aspiration, promoting achievement and increasing happiness for all.

Delegates will discover, through participation in group and interactive sessions, a methodology and framework for explicitly teaching character qualities and leadership skills as a core curriculum component.

The workshop has a flexible design that takes into account the demands on teachers’ time, with the practical sessions being tailored to individual and school requirements.

To develop a contextual understanding of the constituents of character and leadership.
To understand the rationale behind the teaching of character and leadership.
To be aware of the research findings linking the development of character qualities and leadership skills with human flourishing.
To learn of an established framework that promotes outstanding character development.
To promote the exploration of how character and leadership could be taught across the curriculum and applied in a range of school contexts.
